The European Cup final in Rome this week provided many football fans and pundits alike an opportunity to re-assess the club going forward into the summer season, but more importantly, it provides an opportunity for Sir Alex Ferguson to revitalize the club if needed.

Here is a list of players of which Ferguson might want to consider if he is to revamp the Red Devils as promised:

  • Antonio Valencia / Winger / Wigan Athletic
  • Karim Benzema / Forward / Olympique Lyonnais
  • Kaka / Midfielder / AC Milan
  • Wilson Palacios / Midfielder / Tottenham Hotspurs
  • Roque Santa Cruz / Forward / Blackburn Rovers
  • Rafael van der Vaart / Midfielder / Real Madrid
  • Bastian Schweinsteiger / Winger / Bayern Munchen
  • Micah Richards / Defender / Manchester City
  • Diego Forlan / Forward / Atletic Madrid
  • Yaya Toure / Midfielder / Barcelona
  • David Villa / Midfielder / Valencia
  • David Silva / Midfielder / Valencia
  • Wagner Love / Forward / CSKA Moscow
  • Robin van Persie / Forward / Arsenal
  • Phillipe Mexes / Defender / Roma
  • Andrea Pirlo / Midfielder / AC Milan
  • Gareth Barry / Midfielder / Aston Villa
  • Ashley Young / Forward / Aston Villa
  • Luis Fabiano / Forward / Sevilla
  • David Trezeguet / Forward / Juventus

Now of course, Manchester United can't buy all of these players but perhaps at least one or two or even three of these players can sign for United this summer.

Regardless of what happens, Fergie now must realize that the Red Devils would surely require a new kind of boost for next season.

Let's all wait and see what happens.
