Heading into the final round of group phase fixtures in this season's Europa League, only six places remain up for grabs in the knockout phase of the tournament.

As teams fight for qualification or top seeding in their respective groups, it's important to understand the context behind Thursday's encounters, knowing which games are most significant and why.

Read on for a full breakdown of each Europa League group as things stand, as well as a brief discussion on who still holds hope for competition glory and who's ducking out at the earlier exit.

*Highlighted teams have guaranteed their place in the Round of 32.

Group A

Group A Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
Valencia CF 5 4 0 1 11 6 5 12
Swansea City 5 2 2 1 6 3 3 8
FC Kuban Krasnodar 5 1 2 2 6 6 0 5
FC St Gallen 5 1 0 4 5 13 -8 3

UEFA.com

Swansea City need only settle for a point in order to book their place in the next round of the Europa League. Valencia hold a four-point lead at the summit of Group A and have no chance of slipping, regardless of their result against Kuban Krasnodar.

The Russian outfit must not only win in Spain this week, but are also counting on St. Gallen to beat the Swans in Switzerland, providing them with the opportunity to amass the goal difference needed to advance.

Group B

Group B Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
PFC Ludogorets Razgrad 5 4 1 0 9 1 8 13
PSV Eindhoven 5 2 1 2 4 4 0 7
FC Chornomorets Odesa 5 2 1 2 5 6 -1 7
GNK Dinamo Zagreb 5 0 1 4 2 9 -7 1

ESPN FC

Bulgarian side Ludogorets Razgrad have been something of a surprise package in Europe this season, blazing a trail through Group B and targeting 16 points from a possible 18 when they travel to bottom side Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday.

However, the real action is between the two clubs competing for their pool's runners-up place, with PSV and Chornomorets Odesa each tied on seven points.

Should the pair draw, it will be this week's Dutch hosts who qualify for the next round thanks to the fact PSV triumphed over the Ukrainians in their own backyard.

Group C

Group C Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
Red Bull Salzburg 5 5 0 0 12 3 9 15
Esbjerg fB 5 4 0 1 8 5 3 12
IF Elfsborg 5 0 1 4 2 9 -7 1
Standard Liège 5 0 1 4 5 10 -5 1

UEFA.com

Red Bull Salzburg have been Group C's dominant party this year, with Denmark's Esbjerg following the group leaders close behind. Even if Esbjerg were to win in Austria on Thursday, they'd need to beat their hosts by two goals in order to come out on top of the pile.

Standard Liege and Elfsborg have been the casualties of the progressing pair, amassing just two points between them this season.

Group D

Group D Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
FC Rubin Kazan 5 3 2 0 12 4 8 11
SV Zulte Waregem 5 2 1 2 4 8 -4 7
Wigan Athletic 5 1 2 2 5 5 0 5
NK Maribor 5 1 1 3 7 11 -4 4

UEFA.com

Group D is unique in that it's the only pool containing four sides who can all mathematically qualify.

Rubin Kazan have already guaranteed they'll be finishing top of the group, leaving Zulte Waregem, Wigan Athletic and Maribor to tussle things out.

Uwe Rosler's Wigan can advance if they manage to claim a second victory over Maribor in Slovenia, but need Russians Rubin Kazan to beat Zulte. If Zulte claim a point, their superior head-to-head record against Wigan would dump the English side out.

Meanwhile, Maribor can go from zero to hero should they triumph over Wigan, in addition to Rubin beating their opposition.

Group E

Group E Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
ACF Fiorentina 5 4 1 0 10 2 8 13
FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk 5 4 0 1 10 3 7 12
FC Paços de Ferreira 5 0 2 3 1 8 -7 2
CS Pandurii Târgu Jiu 5 0 1 4 3 11 -8 1

UEFA.com

Fiorentina and Dnipro will battle it out for who finishes top in Group E this week, with a draw in Florence being enough to settle in the Italians' favour.

Pacos de Ferreira have been largely disappointing after such a respectable run to third place in last season's Liga Primeira, with Pandurii just a point below them in last.

Group F

Group F Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
Eintracht Frankfurt 5 4 0 1 11 4 7 12
Maccabi Tel-Aviv FC 5 2 2 1 6 5 1 8
APOEL FC 5 1 2 2 3 6 -3 5
FC Girondins de Bordeaux 5 1 0 4 4 9 -5 3

UEFA.com

Eintracht Frankfurt have the comfort of knowing they'll be one of the teams lined up in the last 32 of this season's Europa League, but Maccabi Tel Aviv are hoping that won't stop the Germans claiming a result against their final group opponents APOEL.

The Israeli club need only one more point in order to advance to the next phase of the tournament while Bordeaux's fate has already been sealed.

Group G

Group G Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
Racing Genk 5 3 2 0 9 5 4 11
FC Dynamo Kyiv 5 2 1 2 8 6 2 7
SK Rapid Wien 5 1 3 1 7 7 0 6
FC Thun 5 1 0 4 3 9 -6 3

UEFA.com

Dynamo Kiev and Rapid Wien are set for an almighty encounter when they clash in Ukraine on Thursday, set just a point apart and only a win being good enough to see the Austrian visitors through in the tournament.

FC Thun's three-point tally means their Europa League journey is over regardless of their result, but they'll nonetheless attempt to take something from clear group winners Racing Genk.

Group H

Group H Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
Sevilla FC 5 2 3 0 7 4 3 9
SC Freiburg 5 1 3 1 5 6 -1 6
FC Slovan Liberec 5 1 3 1 7 7 0 6
Estoril 5 0 3 2 4 6 -2 3

UEFA.com

Sevilla chase a seeded Round of 32 spot this week, with a point at Freiburg being enough to give it to them. The two clubs are currently set three points apart, Freiburg level on points with Czech hopefuls Slovan Liberec.

There is a scenario in which Sevilla, Freiburg and Liberec could all finish on nine points. In that scenario, points amassed between the three sides determines who advances. Liberec only amassed three, whereas Sevilla already have five—hence the Spanish side's guaranteed qualification. Freiburg and Liberec are battling to join them.

Group I

Group I Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
Olympique Lyonnais 5 2 3 0 4 2 2 9
Real Betis 5 2 2 1 3 2 1 8
Vitória de Guimaraes 5 1 2 2 5 3 2 5
HNK Rijeka 5 0 3 2 2 7 -5 3

UEFA.com

Lyon and Real Betis rest easy knowing their futures in this season's Europa League are secure, but with only a point separating the pair with one game to go, it's all about claiming top spot.

Betis host Rijeka while the French giants travel to Vitoria de Guimaraes, both teams chasing maximum points, but Lyon holding the slightest of advantages before the action begins.

Group J

Group J Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
Trabzonspor AŞ 5 4 1 0 13 6 7 13
SS Lazio 5 3 2 0 8 4 4 11
Apollon Limassol 5 1 1 3 5 8 -3 4
Legia Warsaw 5 0 0 5 0 8 -8 0

UEFA.com

Lazio can settle for no less than three points when they host Trabzonspor on Thursday, with two points currently putting the Italians in an inferior position to the Turkish titans.

Legia Warsaw and Apollon Limassol have known for a while that their tournaments have been over, and are playing more for pride than anything else this week.

Group K

Group K Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
Tottenham Hotspur 5 5 0 0 11 1 10 15
FC Anzhi Makhachkala 5 2 2 1 3 3 0 8
FC Sheriff 5 0 3 2 3 6 -3 3
Tromsø IL 5 0 1 4 1 8 -7 1

UEFA.com

Tottenham have been clinical in their Europa League run thus far and welcome Anzhi Makhachkala to White Hart Lane in the hopes of finishing the group stage of the tournament as one of only two teams with a 100 percent winning record.

The only two teams that can budge an inch in Group K are Sheriff Tiraspol or Tromso, who'll compete for little more than the wooden spoon.

Group L

Group L Standings
Clubs P W D L F A +/- Pts
PAOK FC 5 3 2 0 8 4 4 11
AZ Almaar 5 3 2 0 6 2 4 11
Maccabi Haifa 5 0 2 3 4 8 -4 2
FC Shakhter Karagandy 5 0 2 3 4 8 -4 2

UEFA.com

Last but not least comes Group L, where PAOK and AZ Alkmaar meet in intense conditions, level on 11 points apiece but also tied on goal difference at plus-four.

Should the pair draw in Greece this week, it will come down to who scores more away goals in games between the two clubs. The first fixture at AZ finished 1-1.
