With the January transfer window looming on the horizon, there will be a chance for AC Milan to strengthen their squad in hopes of making another valiant comeback in the second half of the season.

Milan have gotten off to their worst domestic start since the early 1980s, when they were ultimately relegated to Serie B.

Most recently, Milan failed to get three points against Livorno as it seemed like they may have been turning the chapter on the futility.

Here are the latest rumors and confirmations regarding the Rossoneri in the winter transfer window.

Recent reports suggest that Riccardo Saponara could start for Milan in Monday's match against Roma.

He has barely played this season so a positive performance could change the way he's viewed going forward after being linked to a loan away from Milan in the January transfer window.

Saponara has been battling injury problems since joining Milan over the Summer.

The statement was made on La Gazzetta Dello Sport early on Wednesday morning.

Honda will play his first match for Milan after the Christmas break, and will hopefully give the Rossoneri an added element of creativity up front.

As always with Milan, a run in the Champions League will decide how the market shapes itself in January.

Now that Silvio Berlusconi has said that he hasn't given enough of his own time to his club, there's a strange sense of positivity in the air that Milan might receive a few surprises in the upcoming transfer window.

That all depends on how they fare in their midweek Champions League match against Ajax, where the Rossoneri only need a draw to go through to the group stage.

Via their news showSky Sports Italia have reported that Milan are looking to loan out Riccardo Saponara.

The young attacking midfielder hasn't been able to find much playing time since arriving from Empoli in the summer.

Saponara desperately needs playing time, and he'll surely find more of it at a smaller club. Milan still haven't found the ideal tutor for the player, so it's unclear whether he'll be loaned out to a small Serie A club or one in the second division.
