Some of the big-ticket free agents have signed earlier this year than in years past, a frenzy of activity that caught many off-guard considering the winter meetings only began on Monday. Many premium players remain on the market, though, including prized outfielder Shin-Soo Choo and a trio of top-tier starting pitchers.
The market for those starters—Ubaldo Jimenez, Matt Garza and Ervin Santana—has been especially slow to develop. Teams are waiting to see whether they'll have a shot at Japanese star Masahiro Tanaka, whose fate may be tied up in talks between officials from MLB and NPB as they attempt to hammer out an agreement about the posting process, according to Jayson Stark of ESPN.
Regardless of what happens with Tanaka, all of the players on this list will sign. It's just a matter of where. Here are my picks for the top 10 remaining free agents on the market, and where they'll end up.
