Thanks to a backloaded schedule, the Big 12's top teams beat up on each other. Now, the conference is left with just three ranked teams: Baylor, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
The Bears are Fiesta Bowl-bound after beating Texas on Saturday in the de facto conference title game. They also got a little help from Oklahoma, who beat Oklahoma State 33-24 in the Bedlam rivalry.
So, how did the three Big 12 teams in the Bleacher Report Top 25 fare in the national polls this week?
Ben Kercheval's B/R rank for each team is listed in italics.
Baylor (11-1): No. 6 (AP), No. 5 (USA Today)
Baylor rebounded from a tough loss to Oklahoma State to beat Texas 30-10. By doing so, it captured its first Big 12 championship. The Bears are an obvious top-10 team that should be favored in the Fiesta Bowl—assuming UCF does in fact drop all the way to the final selection.
After Ohio State's loss to Michigan State in the Big Ten title, there may be some "what ifs" going on in Waco if Baylor had been able to beat the Cowboys. Still, what a season for Baylor. There's so much for this program to be proud of.
B/R rank: No. 7
Oklahoma (10-2): No. 11 (AP), No. 10 (USA Today)
Oklahoma's Bedlam win over Oklahoma State still feels surprising nearly 24 hours later. The Sooners had one offensive touchdown and went through three quarterbacks, yet beat the Big 12's hottest team on the road.
Oklahoma has put together one quiet 10-win season—perhaps because its two losses to Texas and Baylor were by a combined 45 points. The Sooners don't feel like a top-10 team, but the results are what they are. Now, Oklahoma should have a good shot at an at-large berth in the Sugar Bowl.
B/R rank: No. 14
Oklahoma State (10-2): No. 13 (AP, USA Today)
Like Oklahoma, Oklahoma State is an intriguing team. The Pokes housed Baylor two weeks ago as part of a seven-game winning streak, yet they also played two duds.
When clicking on offense, the Cowboys can hang with just about anyone. At the same time, there have been frustrating moments that have led to some head-scratching losses.
Oklahoma State is probably a fringe top-10 team, but it didn't look like one Saturday.
B/R rank: No. 16
