Missouri Tigers running back Henry Josey exited Saturday's SEC Championship Game against Auburn in the third quarter with an undisclosed injury, after Auburn's Ryan White shoved him into a sideline cart after he was out of bounds.
CBS Sports' Eye on College Football Twitter account reported on the matter, noting that Josey's run set up a touchdown run by Missouri quarterback James Franklin on the next play:
Henry Josey runs inside the Auburn 20, pushed out of bounds into a cart. Next play, TD rush, James Franklin!— Eye on College FBall (@EyeOnCFB) December 8, 2013
Eye on College Football later reported that Josey did return:
Henry Josey is back on the field, which is fantastic news.— Eye on College FBall (@EyeOnCFB) December 8, 2013
Bleacher Report injury expert Will Carroll remarked that Josey may have injured his back:
Josey slid on a cheerleaders placard after a very late push. Looked like his lower back hit corner on cart. Looked painful.— Will Carroll (@injuryexpert) December 8, 2013
Will Brinson of CBSSports.com cited reporter Tracy Wolfson, who said that Josey was being bandaged but was eager to get back onto the Georgia Dome gridiron:
"He's really trying to get back in there ... but they're putting tape/bandage" on Henry Josey per @tracywolfson— Will Brinson (@WillBrinson) December 8, 2013
Josey has been overshadowed by his Auburn counterpart Tre Mason's record-setting performance in this game, but the Mizzou runner did have nine carries for 123 yards before leaving the field.
The junior entered this game with 13 rushing touchdowns in 2013 and eclipsed the 1,000-yard mark for the season with his impressive showing against Auburn. It will be interesting to see if Josey can contribute any further to what has turned out to be a shootout in Atlanta.
