In the NFL you need a quarterback to lead you to the promise land, especially in the AFC. The last six AFC representatives in the Super Bowl have all had very good quarterbacks: the Steelers, Colts, and Patriots.
Asking Sanchez to play like a Brady, Manning, or Roethlisberger in his first season is too much to ask of any rookie. With an 8-8 or another 9-7 season, Jets fans should be happy.
Finally to the team who won the AFC East last year, the Dolphins. The team who again looks to be the biggest hurdle for the Patriots.
Miami had a very quiet offseason that finished with a bang bringing back defensive end Jason Taylor. The move also kept Taylor away from the Patriots, the likely destination if he had not signed with the Dolphins.
Vice President of Player Operations, Bill Parcells continues to bolster the trenches as five of the seven new players acquired play on the offensive or defensive line.
Again the issue for Miami, like New York, is their quarterback. The question is if Can Chad Pennington produce like he did last year or not. Some even think another Chad, Chad Henne, will be the man under center for the Dolphins by the end of the year.
It could even be Pat White, one of the most intriguing picks of the NFL draft this year. Miami's second round selection was the quarterback out of West Virginia. He was picked as a wide out but insists he will play QB.
The Dolphins shredded teams like the Patriots with the wildcat offense and White is a perfect signal caller to step into that offense.
Miami was the only team to take advantage of a Tom Brady-less division last year, but as he returns so will the Patriots' dominance. Playoffs aren't out of the question for the Dolphins, but a division title is.
