Copa Del Rey Results: Analysis for Cartagena vs. Barcelona and All the Matches

0 of 4

Six matches were on the schedule Friday in Spain's Copa del Rey. The competition has reached the round of 32, with all the teams competing over two legs for a spot in the last 16.

Five matches are scheduled for Saturday, with five more following on Sunday. In the following slides, we take a look at all the matches.

The second legs will be played Dec. 17-19.

Cartagena 1-4 Barcelona

1 of 4

Barcelona averted a brief scare by scoring the final four goals in a 4-1 win at third-tier Cartagena on Friday.

Pedro scored either side of half-time, while Cesc Fabregas and Jean-Marie Dongou added one goal each for the visitors.

Cartagena had gone ahead through Fernando David Rodriguez Noriega in the 16th minute.

The victory ended a brief bad spell for Barcelona, who had lost each of their last two matches in all competitions. Manager Gerardo Martino named a strong side for the match, with Pedro, Cesc, Alexis Sanchez, Sergio Busquets, Carles Puyol and Jordi Alba all in the starting XI.

Alba was playing for the first time since Sept. 13, having sustained two muscle injuries early in the season.

Friday's Other Matches

2 of 4

    Lleida 1-2 Real Betis

Verdu and Jorge Molina scored in the first half as Real Betis won at third-tier side Lleida Esportiu.

The visitors went ahead via Verdu's penalty in the 27th minute, before Molina doubled the lead just before half-time. Lleida pulled one back through Pena Pere Milla in the 57th minute.

    Villarreal 2-2 Elche

Javier Aquino Carmona scored a late equalizer to give Villarreal a dramatic draw at home to Elche.

Elche took a 2-1 lead into second-half stoppage time after Sergio Pelegrin and Richmond Boakye cancelled out Giovani Dos Santos' first-half opener. Carmona struck in the fourth minute of stoppage time to salvage a draw for the home side.

    Algeciras 1-1 Real Sociedad

Jesus Alfaro's second-half goal helped third-tier Algeciras draw at home to Primera Division side Real Sociedad.

Antoine Griezmann struck in the 59th minute to put the visitors ahead, but Alfaro equalized five minutes later.

    Racing Santander 0-1 Sevilla

Jairo Samperio's fifth-minute goal was enough to give Sevilla a 1-0 win at Racing Santander.

The visitors had Coke Andujar sent off in the second half but held on for the full three points.

    Real Valladolid 0-0 Rayo Vallecano

Real Valladolid and Rayo Vallecano played out a scoreless draw at the Nuevo Jose Zorrilla Stadium.

Saturday's Results

3 of 4

    Sant Andreu 0-4 Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid made light work of lower-league opposition Sant Andreu on Saturday, with goals from Raul Garcia, David Villa and a brace from the lethal Arda Turan sealing a comfortable victory.

Girona secured an impressive 1-1 draw at the Estadio Montilivi courtesy of a David Timor strike. Ciprian Marica leveled things for the Liga club late on.
