Arsenal already have an excellent German core in Mesut Ozil, Lukas Podolski, Per Mertesacker and Serge Gnabry. This January, they might be ready to add another to the mix.

According to Ben Jefferson of Express, and many others, the Gunners are leading the race to sign the 20-year-old winger, citing Jan Aage Fjortoft, who says that Draxler's contract expires in 2018 and includes a buyout clause of €45 million.

It is obvious from a quick look at Draxler's highlight reel that he is an extremely talented player with a lot of potential who would fit well into Arsenal's attacking setup, even if the club is saturated with attacking players.

He would have to compete with Podolski, Santi Cazorla, Tomas Rosicky and Theo Walcott, among others.

However, because Draxler's contract has so many years left, the Gunners will not have nearly enough negotiating leverage to convince Schalke to let him go in January.
