India were under pressure after putting South Africa in to bat during the first ODI of the series in Johannesburg, mainly due to a brilliant innings from Quinton de Kock.
The left-handed 20-year-old's second ODI century—135 from 121 balls—had shaped South Africa's score and given them a huge total.
The knock ended tamely when he chipped a return catch to the part-time medium pace of Virat Kohli, but his dismissal was a talking point on Twitter for the send-off that Kohli gave him.
Kohli gives a send off to a man who scored 135. Such a likeable fellow, eh.— Hassan Cheema (@mediagag) December 5, 2013
And out…Kohil gives De Kock a big send off, which is a tad unnecessary. 135 from 121 balls.— Kevin McCallum (@KevinMcCallum) December 5, 2013
It should be noted that the commentary team on television added that they had subsequently seen Kohli change his tune and applaud de Kock as he walked off the field.
