The Portland Trail Blazers are a proud franchise with a long, often tragic history. Sam Bowie, Jordan's shrug, Game 7 against the Los Angeles Lakers, the Jail Blazers, Greg Oden, Brandon Roy...the good fans of Portland have suffered more than enough.
Well, now the tables have turned. The Blazers began Wednesday on top on the Western Conference at 15-3, and their awesome Twitter account was in the mood to have a little fun.
They started off the day with a hilarious dig at the pathetic Eastern Conference:
Too harsh? Not in the slightest. After all, the 13th seed in the Western Conference, the 9-10 Minnesota Timberwolves, would be tied for the sixth seed in the East. If you don't want those bullies out West to pick on you, Eastern Conference, then try winning some games!
The East wasted little time in firing a shot of its own. After beating the Pacific Division-leading Los Angeles Clippers at home, 107-97, the Atlanta Hawks' Twitter account had some choice words for the boys in Portland:
But the Blazers had bigger fish to fry. Portland had a chance to make a statement in the Northwest Division by knocking off the preseason favorite, Oklahoma City, on Wednesday night.
The Portland fans rose to the occasion, and the Blazers' Twitter account was there to record it:
And their beloved Blazers rewarded the faithful with a stirring 111-104 win over the Thunder. Star Portland forward LaMarcus Aldridge led both teams with 38 points, and the hometown fans serenaded him with chants of "M-V-P."
