Who's your team? Lakers or Celtics?
I think it is obvious who has a better chance of making it to the finals, considering how bad the East is.
But will the Celtics make it past that Western Conference team to win it all? And will that team be the No. 1 ranked Lakers? Only time will tell.
Some people think that the only reason the Celtics had the best record regular season was because they were in the weak Eastern Conference. But think again.
The Boston Celtics were 25-5 against Western Conference teams. These numbers would then seem to add up well for them if they were in a seven-game series against a Western Conference team.
Now I'm not saying that no other team in the East has a chance of going, but this is just an analysis of the best team in each conference.
Last year, the Celtics didn't even make the playoffs, and now they are the best team in the league. Why? Well, when you add Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett, it is pretty hard not to improve.
But KG and the man that is said to have the purest shot in the NBA aren't the only reasons the Celtics are where they are.
Paul Pierce is still his all-star self and Rajon Rondo is one of the most improved players in the league. Plus they still have some other great role players in Leon Powe, Tony Allen, James Posey, PJ Brown, Glen Davis, and Eddie House. Oh, and the addition of Sam Cassel certainly helped, too.
The L.A. Lakers were the best team in the VERY tight Western Conference this season.
Although Boston is a sensational team, the Lakers have one thing the Celts don't. The best player in the game today: Kobe Bryant.
There is no question that in the playoffs, Kobe will deliver. Although the West is stronger, for some reason Kobe scores more against that conference.
This season, against teams in the Western Conference, he got 29.3 points per game. Against the Eastern teams, he only had 26.7 points per game.
The Lakers were 20-10 against Eastern Conference teams and 37-15 against the West. And with Kobe leading the charge, anything can happen.
So which big three will win it all? Kobe, Pau, and Lamar Odom? (Bynum won't be back until second round) Or Paul, KG, and Ray Allen?
Or will it be a different team completely?
I think the Celtics will win it all. But what's your opinion?

Lemmer break this down: The celtics have the better chance, but ONLY because they have an easier road to the finals. The Lakers will be tested so much harder coming out of the west, anything could happen in the next couple weeks. Aside from Detroit, who underperforms year after year, the celtics have it made.
So if you gotta bet your left nut on one team, you gotta go with Boston. But whoever does come outta the west (Lakers have the best shot, but that might not be saying much this year) will be potentially able to eat the Celtics lunch if the cards fall their way. Thats just the times we live in.

IF the Lakes and Celts meet in the finals there are many things that will make for outstanding basketball. Aside from the obvious scale tippers; injuries, technical's, accidental fire causing fatalities, I believe there will be two key factors that will determine the upper hand.
1) Focus.
The media hype, their own personal hype, the floor hype, the fan hype and the fact that neither team has played with their respective compete squads in the postseason, means the team that can hold it down mentally should prevail.
2) How the semi-finals are won.
After all the hype and all the war each team will endure to get that far, I believe momentum could be a real back breaker for either team.
Talent and highlights will run amok, the fans will never forget the feeling reborn, but these are two factors we'll need to watch.
