TOP NEWS : Ryan Ludwick, recovering from a hamstring injury, expects to be activated before Friday's game.

American League News :

Josh Beckett struck out eight, gave up three hits and allowed one run over seven innings for the win.

Former Orioles closer, Chris Ray, has been optioned to Triple-A.

Jason Varitek hit two homers against the Twins Thursday.

Anthony Swarzak looked very impressive again for the Twins on Thursday.  Despite giving up two homers to Jason Varitek, Swarzak was able to earn a quality start (QS).

Jorge Posada will rejoin the Yankees today in Cleveland.

Luke Scott, fresh off the DL, homered twice and drove in four runs.

David Hernandez, the 24-year old Oriole rookie, won his major league debut against the Tigers on Thursday.  Hernandez took 108 pitches to get through five and two thirds, but held the Tigers to only one run.

Joe Crede, back after missing four games, hit a solo homer against the Red Sox.

National League News :

Carlos Zambrano is suspended 6-games.

In a rehab start, Tom Glavine hurled five scoreless innings.

Cubs place Ryan Freel on the 15-day DL.

Anibal Sanchez, recovering from a shoulder injury, tossed three shutout innings in a rehab start.

Randy Wolf pitched seven innings of one-run ball against the Cubs Thursday night.

Justin Upton, still slamming the ball, went 3-for-4 with a stolen base.

Rafael Furcal, recovering from butt tightness, rejoined the Dodgers Thursday night and went 2-for-4.

Carlos Delgado, recovering from hip surgery, flat out said that the 10-week time table to get back onto the field isn't realistic.  He's hoping to be back with the Mets before the end of the season.
