On this day 25 years ago, Oklahoma State running back Barry Sanders won the Heisman Trophy. In his junior season, Sanders ran for 2,628 yards and scored 39 TDs.

The future Hall of Fame inductee would go on to be selected No. 3 overall by the Detroit Lions in the 1989 draft and was a First-Team All-Pro six times over his 10-year NFL career.
