Real Madrid have obviously been watching Liverpool's last few games, and have decided that the in-form Luis Suarez is still the man they need to hit the back of the net more regularly.

Martin del Palacio of the London Evening Standard reports that La Liga side Real believe they can sign Suarez next summer, if not before.

Suarez is the top scorer in the league this season and, judging by what Real paid for Gareth Bale last summer, would presumably cost the Spanish club another £100 million or so if they managed to convince Liverpool to part with him.

Pepe Reina wants to leave Liverpool and join Barcelona in the summer—that's the report from Jamie Sanderson at Metro.

The Reds' goalkeeper is currently on loan at Serie A side Napoli, with many having expected him to make the move back to Spain last summer. However, with Victor Valdes opting not to move away until his contract ends in 2014, Reina's move was put on hold.

With Simon Mignolet now the established No. 1 at Anfield, it's unlikely Reina will return.

Liverpool are looking for a new left-back, and Caner Erkin is the man they have identified as a target, reports Nick Lustig of the Daily Star.

The 25-year-old versatile left-sided player is a regular for Fenerbahce, and has caught the eye with nine assists and one goal in 12 league games this season.

With his contract due to end in the summer, there is the possibility that he could move for a relatively low fee in January.

Liverpool are without two strikers at present, with Fabio Borini out on loan and Daniel Sturridge having suffered a new injury setback, so the recent rumours surround possible striking options for January.

Alan Nixon of Mirror Football reports that Brendan Rodgers was already considering a move for Burnley youngster Danny Ings, and Sturridge's ankle problem has accelerated the possibility of a move.

Ings has scored 10 goals in 17 Championship outings this season and is has scored two in two at England under-21 level, with his last appearance coming in November against San Marino.

Bayern Munich's Xherdan Shaqiri is a potential loan target for January, having been unable to establish himself this season under Pep Guardiola.

Elsewhere, they also state Ola John is a possible target for a permanent deal, with the Benfica wide forward also unable to hold down a regular starting place.

Liverpool are linked with a move for PSG's Javier Pastore by talkSPORT, which claim he is not enough of a regular at the French champions to remain there past this season.

However, the Reds will face opposition from the likes of Olympique Lyon and AS Roma if Pastore decides to move on.

Pastore usually operates in an advanced central role, often behind a forward or cutting in from the left depending on the system utilised.

    Monday, Dec. 2

Luc Castaignos was a reported target for Liverpool a couple of seasons ago, and Metro's Jamie Sanderson claims that the Reds are ready to move for him again now.

A £6 million bid is reported to be enough to capture his signature, having signed for current club FC Twente around 15 months ago. He scored 13 goals in the Eredivisie last season and has seven so far this campaign.

Castaignos spent the 2011-12 season at Inter Milan but failed to become a first-team regular. He is now 21 years old and a regular in the Dutch Under-21 side.
