Basketball legend and current Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan and his new bride, Yvette Prieto, are expecting their first child, per Stephanie Webber of Us Weekly magazine. Webber writes that Jordan's representative confirms Prieto is with child, but there are no details regarding how far along she is in the pregnancy.
The two wed seven months ago in a lavish ceremony fitting for a man listed at No. 20 on the Forbes' Celebrity list. The ceremony was held at the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-By-The Sea in Palm Beach, Fla. The star-studded reception, which included guests such as Robin Thicke, Usher and Spike Lee, was held at the Bear's Club in Jupiter, Fla.
The 50-year-old Jordan has three children—Jeffrey, Marcus and Jasmine—with his first wife Juanita.
Jeffrey is the oldest at 24. He enjoyed a successful high school hoops career and went on to play at the University of Illinois. Marcus is the second oldest at 22. He also was a high school basketball standout and a solid player for the University of Central Florida in college, until leaving the program in August of 2012. The 6'2" guard has yet to resume his career on any level, but he is still very young. Jasmine is 19 and is currently a sports management major at Syracuse.
The Jordan kids will soon have a little brother or sister to love and enjoy. Naturally, when a great athlete who is so synonymous with his or her sport has new offspring, fans will begin to playfully speculate about the athletic prowess of the child.
Seeing as though the newest Jordan child hasn't even been born, we'll have to wait a while before that type of talk can kick into high gear. At any rate, congratulations are in order for the Jordan family. May they have a blessed, healthy and happy baby.
