After a 1-2 weekend at the Puerto Rico Tip-Off, the Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) Rams bounced back against the Northeastern University Huskies. After a back and forth contest, VCU won 79-66 and improved to 5-2 on the year.
The Rams were led by Treveon Graham, who has been averaging 15.3 points per game (PPG). Against Northeastern, Graham scored a season high of 24 points.
The Huskies, who previously beat Georgetown 63-56, had a bright spots in Scott Eatherton. The junior forward, scored 17 points for Northeastern.
The former Colonial Athletic Association foes put up a constant fight throughout the game. They even took advantages of the Rams' poor transition defense and lack of shooting in the first half.
It definitely was not a one-sided win.
But in the end VCU came alive with Graham off the bench. Plus, his teammates Briante Weber, Mo Alie-Cox, and Melvin Johnson either assisted, blocked or scored when they needed to in order to give VCU their fifth win on the season.
