It was a big game for a number of players on Thanksgiving between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens, but it was Jacoby Jones and Justin Tucker who came away with the NBC Madden Players of the Game honors.
The SNF on NBC Twitter account announced the two winners right after the game.
Tucker was terrific throughout the entire game, hitting five field goals, including a big one late in the game from 48 yards away in the 22-20 win for the Ravens.
The Ravens' official Twitter account seemed quite happy with Tucker's play for the game.
From a fantasy perspective, owners were either thrilled to have Tucker or devastated to be playing against him, as seen from these tweets by ESPN's Bill Simmons and Matthew Berry.
I love Justin Tucker so much. He's the most reliable person in my life. Singlehandedly keeping my fantasy season alive.— Bill Simmons (@BillSimmons) November 29, 2013
How many people's Thanksgiving has been ruined because you are goin against Justin Tucker?— Matthew Berry (@MatthewBerryTMR) November 29, 2013
In ESPN's standard scoring leagues, that was good enough for 19 fantasy points, which was more than all but three players from Thursday's game.
Meanwhile, Jacoby Jones had a big game as well. He finished with 53 receiving yards on four receptions while also adding a huge 73-yard kick return that was nearly a touchdown late in the game. There was a bit of controversy on the play, as Mike Tomlin may have intentionally tried to distract Jones by getting dangerously close to him on the return.
However, the Ravens still came away with a win, with the kicker and kick returner coming away with the Madden Player of the Game awards, and they both certainly deserved the recognition.
