1. Miami Jake Long, ot Michigan
This would actually be a good move for Miami. Shore up the o-line to protect whover the QB is and Ronnie Brown. Maybe Brian Brohm falls to the Phins in round 2.
2. St. Louis Vernon Gholston, de Ohio State
The Dolphins have been negotiating with Vernon Gholston and Jake Long, not Chris Long. Which leads me to believe that St. Louis might just jump on Gholston instead of Chris Long.
3. Atlanta Glenn Dorsey, dt LSU
Chances are, the Falcons will send a draft pick to Buffalo for JP Losman and load-up on d-linemen early rather than take Matt Ryan to be their future. They would pass on Chris Long because they currently have Jamaal Anderson and John Abraham.
4. Oakland Chris Long, de Virginia
If the Rams pass on Chris Long for Gholston, this is where Long will go. No question.
5. Kansas City Ryan Clady, ot Boise State
The Chiefs need offensive linemen, badly. They should be able to add a cornerback in round 2 or 3 and defensive depth later on. My thinking is they need o-linemen early, even if it takes 2-3 years for them to develop.
6. NY Jets Darren McFadden, rb Arkansas
If they don't trade up to prevent New England from sniping them for McFadden, this is where D-Mac will go in order to protect the free-agency investments the Jets made in offensive-linemen.
7. New England Sedrick Ellis, dt USC
Richard Seymour is on the downside of his career and is expensive--plus he has durability issues now. Sedrick Ellis would allow the Pats to part ways with Seymour.
8. Baltimore Matt Ryan, qb Boston College
The Ravens can't pass on this passer at this point.
9. Cincinnati Keith Rivers, lb USC
The Bengals need to beef up the front seven and could start by taking Keith Rivers.
10. New Orleans Leodis McKelvin, cb Troy
Leodis McKelvin would give options to the Saints. Either McKelvin would replace the aging Mike McKenzie or supplant Jason David. Either way, McKelvin is the best player available.
11. Buffalo Devin Thomas, wr Michigan State
The Bills need a receiver to pair with Lee Evans. Devin Thomas is probably the best all round receiver and would compliment the speedy Evans.
12. Denver Jeff Otah, ot Pittsburgh
Must have player for the Broncos with their depleted o-line.
13. Carolina Derrick Harvey, de Florida
They pass on Brian Brohm in order to reload the area that has driven their success by getting a pass-rusher to take the pressure off Julius Peppers.
14. Chicago Chris Williams, ot Vanderbilt
It's either a quarterback or a runningback, but why not a player that can support both positions?
15. Detroit Dan Connor, ilb Penn State
Dan Connor plays the same position from the same school as Matt Millen. No brainer.
16. Arizona Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, cb Tennessee State
The need a corner in order to keep Antrell Rolle at safety.
17. Kansas City (from MIN) Brendan Albert, g Virginia
No official trade but practically in the cards. As I mentioned, the Chiefs should be able to get quality defense in the later rounds, so thus they focus on the o-line.
18. Houston Rashard Mendenhall, rb Illinois
The Texans have many needs but could use a bruiser back.
19. Philadelphia Jerod Mayo, lb Tennessee
Basically, a well-rounded team already. Thus, the Iggles take the best available player to add depth to an iffy LB corps.
20. Tampa Bay Phillip Merling, de Clemson
The Bucs want to get back to their bread and butter. With the Vikings getting Jared Allen, the Bucs snap up Phillip Merling to give them two pass-rush beasts for the future (the other being Gaines Adams).
21. Washington Kenny Phillips, fs Miami
Perfect fit for Kenny Phillips. The Skins move on from Sean Taylor by taking Phillips.
22. Dallas DeSean Jackson, wr-rs California
They need a corner, but the draft is loaded with corners, thus they grab the receiver from Cal, DeSean Jackson for the deep threat and to return punts.
23. Pittsburgh Mike Jenkins, cb South Florida
The Steelers need a corner in that defense. This makes sense.
24. Tennessee Limas Sweed, wr Texas
The Titans grab Vince Young's go-to receiver from Texas, Limas Sweed.
25. Seattle Andre Caldwell, wr Florida
If they don't trade down, the Seahawks could use another receiver for their offense. Caldwell has some durability issues but is probably the best all-around receiver after Devin Thomas.
26. Jacksonville Pat Sims, dt Auburn
The Jags need a tackle and Sims is probably the best one after Ellis and Dorsey.
27. San Diego Antoine Cason, cb Arizona
The Chargers take a corner to shore up their shaky secondary.
28. Dallas Felix Jones, rb Arkansas
The Boys wait again to take a corner and instead add a complimentary runner to Marion Barber to replace Julius Jones by taking Razorback Felix Jones.
29. San Francisco (from IND) Quentin Groves, lb-de Auburn
Mike Nolan loves pass-rushing linebackers.... so unless they gamble on a receiver or load up on o-linemen, then they take Groves.
30. Green Bay Jonathan Stewart, rb Oregon
Leverage plain and simple. Ryan Grant wants a new contract thus the Pack takes the highly touted Stewart to prevent Grant from getting mega-bucks.
31. New England NO PICK
32. NY Giants Mike McGlynn, ol Pittsburgh
Mike McGlynn has skyrocketed. Most think he'll go early 2nd. I think Tom Coughlin though will see a chance to select a versatile lineman who can play any position. So why not?
33. Miami Brian Brohm, qb Louisville
Bonus pick for the first round mock. Since New England lost their pick, this is technically 32nd overall. Maybe Brohm is the next Marino. Who knows. I just don't see a rush on passers thus I think Brohm will fall to the Phins.
