Northern Illinois 33, Western Michigan 14—Final

With the West division in the MAC all wrapped up after back-to-back victories over Ball State and Toledo, No. 14 Northern Illinois protected home turf and took care of Western Michigan, 33-14, to finish the regular season undefeated.

The Huskies will await their opponent in the MAC Championship Game next week, but they have to feel good to finish the conference schedule on a high note.

Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch was an unstoppable force on Tuesday night, breaking his own record for rushing yards in a single game by an FBS quarterback. While Lynch struggled to throw the football effectively in chilly, windy conditions, he managed to rack up 325 yards and three touchdowns on 28 carries.

The victory keeps NIU's BCS bowl hopes alive, but it will need one more victory to secure a birth in a BCS game. A team from a non-automatic qualifying conference must finish in the Top 16 of the BCS standings as well as ahead of a conference champion from a BCS conference, and right now, the Huskies match each of those qualifications.
