Pete Holmes' Interview with Lolo Jones Is So Awkward It's Awesome

Lolo Jones sat down with Pete Holmes recently, and that's when things got awkward.

The host of the aptly named The Pete Holmes Show welcomed the 31-year-old who is continuing to work on her newest sports endeavor: bobsledding.

For those who have never seen Holmes' comedy, stay up late or DVR an episode, because it's well worth your time. The best part is Holmes' way of turning interviews that would normally be cliched or trite into a mess, which yields a sizable amount of laughs.

If the above video doesn't grab you, go ahead and peek at the interview he had with Houston Rockets guard James Harden. Be warned that the following does have some NSFW naughty bits.

In his interview with Jones, Holmes discusses bobsledding, Jones' virginity and Twitter dates—all of which we have heard about ad nauseam.

That problem is solved the moment things get going and what would be a normal cavalcade of talking points turns just a tad uncomfortable.

When the interview ends with Jones saying with a smile, "You've just washed away everything I've worked for in one sentence. I need to end this interview now," you know something interesting transpired.

Preceding that exchange was Holmes explaining to Jones "third base" with what can only be described as an obscene hand gesture.

Really, that's all you need to know about an interview that also featured the host asking Jones why she is so tan, to which she answered, "Because I'm black." Instead of cringing, fans get to see a conversation transpire on the finer points of telling this particular joke.

For Jones, she had some good news recently, winning a spot on the U.S. bobsled team for the upcoming World Cup competition.

As for Holmes, we look forward to his next interview with an athlete, one we have no doubt will be so bad it's actually quite good.
