Manningham saw a team-high seven targets and caught four passes for 45 yards against the Redskins on Monday. His role in the offense is growing, although he still may not see the red zone work like Anquan Boldin or Vernon Davis.
Manningham's greatest contribution to his team will be his presence on the field. He is a big enough target that defenses will have to make sure he is covered which will prevent them from double-teaming Boldin or throwing extra coverage Davis' way. That alone should help open up the 49ers passing game and allow Colin Kaepernick greater opportunities.
