UK sports minister Helen Grant was given a pop quiz on sport after an interview and scored a depressing 0/5.
Amongst the things the MP for Maidstone did not know were the current FA Cup holders (she guessed Manchester United, which suffice to say was not correct), the Wimbledon ladies' champion and the England rugby captain.
Grant, in quotes picked up by the Huffington Post, said:
I wasn't told there was going to be a quiz thrown in at the end of an interview for local television at a grassroots sport event in my constituency on Saturday night.
If I'd known I would have done some proper revision. My sports pub quiz knowledge may not be encyclopaedic but I completely understand the positive impact that participating in sport has on people's lives.
Despite her general sporting knowledge coming up short, the same report in the Huffington Post suggests that Grant does have sporting pedigree.
In her youth, she was under-16 champion of the north of England and southern Scotland in judo, while her parliamentary website page adds that she was heavily involved across several sports at school level.
Grant, 52, has only been in the role in the cabinet since last month's reshuffle, succeeding Hugh Robertson.
It's up to the public to decide whether her embarrassing lack of basic sports trivia affects her ability to do the job, or whether perhaps she doesn't know because she's too busy working on making the sports scene in the UK a better place.
Either way, if you get any one of these questions right, you're doing better than Grant...
