The Boston Bruins have stunned the critics and forced this series to a seventh game. They scored a nail-biting 5-4 victory over the Montreal Canadiens tonight at the TD BankNorth Garden.
Boston's net-minder Tim Thomas was peppered with 35 shots, stopping 31 in the win. Montreal's Carey Price faced 36 in the losing effort.
In his second game of the series, 20-year-old Phil Kessel scored his second and third goals of the playoffs tonight in dramatic fashion. Both were edge-of-your-seat shots that lit the lamp.
The physical presence of 19-year-old Milan Lucic was pivotal tonight as well, with some bone-shattering hits. He also scored his second goal of the playoffs in the third period.
Marco Sturm helped his cause by also scoring his second goal in the series. It was the game-winner just under three minutes to play in regulation.
The unsung hero for the B's tonight though, was Aaron Ward. He did a phenomenal job of shutting down Canadiens Captain Alexei Kovalev, basically making the scoring team leader a non-factor in this game.
What a roll-of-the-dice, turn-of-events for the Hub of Hockey tonight. Being down 3-1 in the series, the Black and Gold have silenced the naysayers and forced a Game 7.
Boston has put all the pressure back on the Habs. The Bruins' physical play and desire to win was unmatched tonight.
Let's hope the momentum carries on through the weekend, when the the bitter-rivals meet at the Bell Centre in Canada for the final time this season on Monday, 7 p.m. EST.
We could be witnessing the "impossible" here, offering some payback for 2004.

When I made my picks for a school bracket bet, I picked Montreal to win, but Boston is sure making things interesting. A very exciting series this has become and game seven is gonna be one to remember!
