That wasn't the case.
The Patriots squeaked out a 34-31 win in overtime, and the numbers for Edelman were quite impressive. He had nine catches for 110 yards and two touchdowns, giving him 23 fantasy points in ESPN's standard scoring leagues.
Before this game, Edelman hadn't exactly had the most productive season. He had 52 receptions for 500 yards and just two touchdowns, which was in Week 1. This was just his third game with at least 10 points, and his first since Week 4. In fact, since Week 4, he hadn't scored more than five points in a single game.
The production from Edelman has been very inconsistent, which makes him a very risky fantasy play.
He was able to get open this week, but he hasn't proven that he can string two good games together. Overall, I think Edelman is worth picking up after this week to sit on your bench, but I would be hesitant to start him unless you're willing to take a big risk that has a relatively small chance of paying off.
