The Blazers found themselves in a 59-44 hole heading into the half, but erupted in the third quarter. Portland outscored Chicago 34-12 in that frame and held on for the win.
Wesley Matthews led the way with 28 points on 12-of-19 shooting from the field and 4-of-8 from three-point range.
All five Blazers starters reached double figures.
For the Bulls, the big story is of course the loss of Derrick Rose. After tearing his left ACL in May of 2012, Rose took 18 months to fully recover before returning to NBA action.
After scoring 20 points on 6-of-19 shooting, he injured his right knee in the third quarter and left the game.
