Adrian Mutu—yes, he is still playing—has been banned from the Romanian national team after likening coach Victor Piturca to British television character Mr. Bean.

Mutu, 34, compared Piturca and Mr. Bean—who is portrayed by Rowan Atkinson—in a photo posted to his Facebook account. The photo has been deleted.

Fortunately, through the magic of the interwebs, we can still bring you the photo in question. Here it is:

ESPN.co.uk report:

However, the (Romanian FA) caught wind of Mutu's actions—posted after he was left out of the squad for the World Cup qualifying match with Greece—and, according to reports in the Metro, informed the player via a letter that he would not be considered for national selection again.

In fairness, there is some resemblance between Piturca and Atkinson. Could this be the beginning of a new sidekick for the Bean?

Regardless, this is hardly the first time Mutu has been in trouble with his superiors. Earlier this year, Juventus and Livorno had to pay Chelsea some of the £14 million Mutu owed to Chelsea, who sacked him in 2004 following a failed drugs test.

Mutu currently plays for Ligue 1 side Ajaccio.
