Okay, so word is coming out tonight that the Memphis Tigers Basketball team did some cheating during the 2007-08 season. All the details have not yet been released, but the word is that someone on that year's squad "knowingly committed fraudulence or misconduct" on the SAT exam.
Now there is a whole bunch of court BS that says they cannot release the name of the player, but they are saying the player only competed during the 2007-08 season and the 2008 NCAA tournament. Sounds a lot like DRose to me. As a matter fact, I think he was the only freshman to bounce off that team.
And this is the same team that almost went undefeated, if it wasn't for the loss in the championship game to Kansas. And now, if these charges stick, they would have to give up their NCAA record 38 wins and tourney appearance. Just like that, erased from the record books.
And then, on top of the SAT cheating, the NCAA is saying Memphis also gave $2,260 in free travel to road games for one of the players' homies. Now Memphis just ain't going to do that for a scrub, so it had to be one of their top recruits. More on what went down on June 6 when the case goes to court.
