Shortstop is the most important defensive position on the infield. Get a good one in the mix, and you’ve got something going.
And that, come to think of it, is not such a bad lead-in to a sales pitch for a free-agent shortstop like, for example, Stephen Drew.
For the second time in as many years, Drew is a free agent. He was merely looking for a chance to prove himself last winter and ended up doing so with the Boston Red Sox. As a result, he now finds himself looking for a multiyear deal that will pay him the big bucks.
