When a hot team such as Oklahoma State opens as a 13-point home underdog in a conference battle, you know the other team must be even hotter. That’s Baylor, the nation’s highest-scoring team and a hungry squad knocking on the BCS door.
The Cowboys have dominated Baylor over the years, but the Bears have been on fire at the betting window, covering 14 of their last 15 spreads.
Point spread: Baylor opened as 13-point favorites, but the number was bet quickly down to 10 points; the total was huge, hovering at 78 early in the week. (Line updates and matchup report)
Odds Shark computer prediction: 52-36 Baylor
Why Baylor can cover the spread
Each week the Bears treat their game as if it's the biggest game of the season. Coach Art Briles is a fanatic for detail and implores his troops weekly to play with an elimination-game attitude. His offense is on pace to set major college records, as it's averaging 61 points per game on 685 yards per contest.
They are 14-1 ATS in their past 15 games, so any spread is fair game for the Bears.
Why Oklahoma State can cover the spread
Oklahoma State will be fired up after its 38-13 win at Texas, a victory that easily provided the Cowboys the right kind of confidence it needs to face an offense like Baylor's. The Pokes have won six in a row, so momentum is flowing with this team just as much as it is with Baylor.
Winning eight straight at home to Baylor and 14 of 16 overall since 1997 certainly provides the confidence needed to win here.
When it's all said and done, you cannot deny what Baylor has accomplished, as it has won every game by more than 10 points. Whether this is the game a team keeps it close remains to be seen, but you can't go against the Bears' offense regardless of the opponent at this point.
- Baylor has lost eight in a row at Oklahoma State (1-7 ATS)
- Baylor is 14-1 ATS in past 15 games
- Cowboys are 14-2 SU vs Baylor since 1997
