With another exciting week of football under our belts, here are the Lester’s Legends 2013 Week 12 fantasy football team defense rankings.
1. Carolina Panthers
The Carolina Panthers rank third in total defense with 294 yards allowed per game and first in scoring defense with 13.5 points allowed per game.
The Panthers have 31 sacks and have forced 23 turnovers. They are facing the Miami Dolphins. The Dolphins rank 31st in total offense with 307.8 yards per game. They have allowed a league-high 41 sacks and have committed 17 turnovers.
I don't know how their shattered offensive line can hold back Carolina's front seven.
2. Kansas City Chiefs
The Kansas City Chiefs rank 12th in total defense (336.9 YPG allowed) and second in scoring defense (13.8 PPG allowed). They have 36 sacks and 24 takeaways.
The Chiefs battle with the San Diego Chargers this week. The Bolts rank 17th in scoring offense (22.8 PPG). They can still be a potent offense, but the Chiefs are an elite defensive unit, particularly when they are playing at home.
3. Houston Texans
The Houston Texans lead the league in total defense with 286.1 yards allowed per game. They yield a fair amount of points (27.6 PPG), but that shouldn't be an issue against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
The Jags rank dead last in total offense (278 YPG) and scoring offense (12.9 PPG). Jacksonville has allowed 33 sacks and has 19 turnovers.
4. Baltimore Ravens
The Baltimore Ravens rank 13th in total defense (339.9 YPG allowed) and eighth in scoring defense (21.2 PPG allowed). They have 34 sacks on the year. They are facing the inconsistent New York Jets.
The Jets rank 20th in total offense (324.8 YPG) and 31st in scoring offense (18.3 PPG). The Jets have allowed 35 sacks and have turned the ball over 21 times.
5. San Francisco 49ers
The San Francisco 49ers rank seventh in total defense (323.8 YPG allowed) and fourth in scoring defense (17.8 PPG allowed). The Niners have forced 21 turnovers.
In Week 12, they face a tough task against the Washington Redskins, but the Niners did a decent job with Drew Brees last week. The Redskins have 18 turnovers.
6. New Orleans Saints
The New Orleans Saints rank fourth in total defense (305.4 YPG allowed) and fifth in scoring defense (18.3 PPG allowed). The Saints have 32 sacks and 16 takeaways.
This week, they are playing the struggling Atlanta Falcons. The Falcons rank 22nd in scoring offense (21.4 PPG) and have committed 19 turnovers.
7. Detroit Lions
The Detroit Lions are not a superior defensive unit, but I think they'll slow down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Bucs rank 28th in total offense (310.8 YPG) and 30th in scoring offense (18.7 PPG).
8. Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts rank 10th in scoring defense (22 PPG allowed). They have 26 sacks and 15 takeaways.
The Colts are playing the Arizona Cardinals. The Cards rank 19th in total offense (326.4 YPG) and 22nd in scoring offense (21.4 PPG). They have allowed 27 sacks and have 21 turnovers.
9. Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers are a mediocre defensive unit, but the Minnesota Vikings are a bad team.
The Vikes are getting terrible quarterback play and Adrian Peterson (groin) isn't his normal self. Minnesota ranks 26th in total offense (317.7 YPG) and has allowed 22 sacks.
10. New York Jets
The Jets rank eighth in total defense (324 YPG allowed). They have 28 sacks.
They are facing the Ravens. The Ravens rank 30th in total offense (308.5 YPG) and 25th in scoring defense (20.8 PPG).
Baltimore has allowed 33 sacks and committed 18 turnovers.
