Big E Langston Captures Intercontinental Championship with Win over Curtis Axel
WWE.com

After weeks of hype, Big E Langston was finally granted the opportunity to challenge Curtis Axel for the Intercontinental Championship on WWE's Monday Night Raw. With Paul Heyman nowhere to be seen, Axel was forced to prove he could defend the prestigious belt on his own.

Unfortunately for Axel, it was Langston who hit the Big Ending to win the Intercontinental Championship.

This marks Langston's first career WWE Intercontinental Championship reign.

Langston went toe-to-toe with Axel in a physical, high-stakes affair that tested both men's will. Axel connected with a series of high-impact strikes, including a beautiful running dropkick, but it all ended with Langston going Ultimate Warrior on his opponent.

After connecting with a picture-perfect running body splash, he converted the Big Ending and secured the three-count.

There aren't many wrestlers who have ever possessed as much raw power as Big E Langston.

Langston, 27, is one of the most promising wrestlers in the industry today. He began his career in NXT, became world champion along the developmental ranks and has since turned heads in matches against superstars such as Randy Orton, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger.

On Raw, he took his game to a new level by adding the Intercontinental Championship to his resume.

The WWE Intercontinental title has been held by the likes of Chris Jericho, CM Punk, Eddie Guerrero, Edge and Kurt Angle. It's often the strap that provides a superstar with the opportunity to prove their worth as a future world champion, and Langston has every tool necessary to live up to that potential.

Until then, enjoy the Intercontinental Championship reign of WWE's fastest-rising superstar.
