Grand Total: £31 million

BIRMINGHAM, ENGLAND - MAY 24: Newcastle United manager Alan Shearer applauds the crowd after Newcastle United were relegated after 0-1 defeat to Aston Villa during the Barclays Premier League match between Aston Villa and Newcastle United at Villa Park o

Newcastle United are expected to recoup from the sale of their existing first-teamers somewhere in the region of £30 million. It is understood that Alan Shearer wants a further £20 million from Mike Ashley for signings.

The entire £50 million may not be used for transfers. Instead, may be allocated for damage control—the rigours of championship football, no doubt.

If the current market trend is anything to go by, then expect the transfers to begin as early as next week. As soon as Big Al secures his contract with Ashley, and the owner allocates the necessary funds, these names—as far as this writer is concerned—should be gathered and pursued.

For £31 million, Newcastle United could get a young, hungry crop of players desperate to prove their worth and establish themselves as the next "Entertainers."

As ex-chairman Sir John Hall said, "The days of 'yesterday's men' at Newcastle United must come to an end."
