"We will be forever grateful to Jon for bringing us the Super Bowl title, and we thank Bruce for his contributions to our franchise. However, after careful consideration, we feel that this decision is in the best interest of our organization moving forward."

-Buccaneers co-chairman Joel Glazer

In his seven seasons with the Buccaneers, Jon Gruden earned two division titles and one Super Bowl championship. However, it was Gruden's inability to find a steady rhythm with the franchise during the season's in between these banner years which ultimately led to his dismissal as head coach.

After taking some time to evaluate the direction of their franchise, the Glazer family decided that it was time for a fresh start and change of leadership.

Having witnessed the great success of previous Buccaneer assistants who had moved on to head coaching positions with other teams, the Glazers did not look far in search of their next head coach.

The young and talented Raheem Morris was quickly promoted up the ranks to become the new face of the Buccaneer organization. Along with this promotion came the responsibility of rebuilding his own coaching staff.
