MSU 62, Columbia 53 (Final)
Adreian Payne's 26 points and 11 rebounds weren't enough for a blowout Friday night for Michigan State, which hobbled to a mediocre 62-53 victory over Columbia of the Ivy League.
The Spartans' defense was suspect for the entire 40 minutes, frequently allowing the Lions to get clean looks from just about everywhere on the floor. When the long ball was open, they jumped on the Spartans' porous defense.
When the back door was open, players such as Alex Rosenberg stepped forward to attack. Rosenberg helped push his team in the second half. He scored eight of his 10 points in the final 20 minutes.
