Week 12 result: Arizona (6-4, 3-4 Pac-12) lost at home for the second week in a row, falling 24-17 to Washington State (5-5, 3-4).

The Wildcats looked sloppy and sluggish on offense, while their defense couldn't slow down WSU's quick-and-short passing game that gave the Cougars an early 10-0 lead. Arizona got back into it behind Ka'Deem Carey, who ran for 132 yards and a touchdown and also caught a TD pass, but in the second half Arizona failed to do much of anything with the ball.

That allowed WSU to rally, with continued passing all over the field that was enhanced by numerous Arizona missed tackles.

The Red Raiders looked sharp at the outset, taking a 14-0 lead on Baylor thanks to two TD passes from Baker Mayfield to Jace Amaro. But then it was pretty much all Baylor, which ended up leading 21-20 by the end of the first quarter and never looked back.

Mayfield threw for 314 yards and four TDs, but his lone interception was a critical one and was part of a three-turnover effort that led to two Baylor scores. And the Red Raiders defense had no answer for the Bears' attack, yielding 675 yards.

Up next: Tech is off until Thanksgiving, Nov. 28, when it visits Texas (7-3, 6-1) in its regular-season finale. The Red Raiders have dropped four straight to the Longhorns, falling 31-22 last season.

Lynch finished with 468 yards of total offense, throwing for 345 yards and two TDs and rushing for 123 yards and two scores. That included a statement-like 16-yard TD run with under two minutes left when it looked like NIU was just trying to run the clock out.

The Tigers led 37-17 in the fourth quarter, only to see the Bulldogs take the lead with 21 unanswered points. Auburn was down to its last gasp when, miraculously, a deep ball from Nick Marshall on 4th-and-18 was knocked into the air by a Georgia player and into the hands of Ricardo Louis for a 73-yard TD pass with 25 seconds left.

Auburn dominated for most of the game, rushing for 323 yards and seeing Marshall throw for 229 yards and run for 89 more with two TDs. The Tigers also got 115 yards and a TD from Tre Mason, though defensively they allowed Aaron Murray to throw for 415 yards.

Up next: Auburn is off until the Nov. 30 Iron Bowl against visiting Alabama (10-0, 7-0). The Tigers have lost their last two meetings with the Crimson Tide, including last year's 49-0 drubbing.

Notable: Auburn continues to be a run-first team, averaging 320.3 yards per game with 37 touchdowns on the ground. Both figures are third-best in the FBS.

Week 12 result: Clemson (9-1, 7-1 ACC) wrapped up league play with a solid 55-31 win over visiting Georgia Tech (6-4, 5-3).

The Tigers started off slowly but still led 20-0 before Georgia Tech could get anything going. Even with the early issues, Clemson finished with 551 yards, with Tajh Boyd throwing for 340 yards and four touchdowns.

Martavis Bryant had five catches for 176 yards, including a 76-yard TD, while Sammy Watkins scored TDs on both of his receptions.

Up next: The Tigers take a break from competitive play with their final home game, against FCS opponent Citadel (5-6) on Saturday. Clemson beat the Bulldogs 45-17 in 2008.

Notable: Boyd became the ACC's career leader in passing touchdowns, with 97, two more than North Carolina State's Philip Rivers. Boyd also surpassed 11,000 passing yards for his career.

    Week 12 result: Oregon (9-1, 6-1 Pac-12) pushed through for a 44-21 win over visiting Utah (4-6, 1-6).

The Ducks didn't look particularly sharp, but still managed to win without much effort thanks to 288 yards and three passing touchdowns from quarterback Marcus Mariota, who again was limited in his running by a knee injury.

All told, Oregon's run game wasn't its normal flashy self, with just 145 yards, though Byron Marshall did manage two rushing TDs. But the defense was solid, allowing fewer than 300 yards despite giving up three touchdowns.

Up next: Oregon plays Saturday at Arizona (6-4, 3-4). The Ducks won 49-0 over the Wildcats last season.

Notable: The Ducks have seen their run game drop to 10th nationally with a 285.9 yards-per-game average, though they're still second overall in total offense.

Week 12 result: Ohio State (10-0, 6-0 Big Ten) continued its offensive onslaught on its lesser league foes, winning 60-35 win at Illinois (3-7, 0-6).

The Buckeyes got 246 yards and four touchdowns from Carlos Hyde, part of a 441-yard rushing effort that paced a 28-0 lead to start the game. Braxton Miller added 184 rushing yards, along with 150 through the air, albeit on 13-of-29 passing.

OSU did allow 420 yards but also forced two turnovers, returned an interception for a touchdown and sacked Nathan Scheelhaase for a safety.

Up next: OSU hosts Indiana (4-6, 2-4) on Saturday. The Buckeyes have won 18 straight over the Hoosiers, but last year's game was a tight 52-49 decision.

Notable: Hyde has averaged 164.2 yards over the last five games with 11 touchdowns.

Week 12 result: Baylor (9-0, 6-0 Big 12) shook off an early 14-0 deficit to roll to a 63-34 win over Texas Tech (7-4, 3-4) in a game played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Tex.

The Bears didn't get rattled by the shot in the mouth from the Red Raiders; instead they responded with their usual quick-strike attack to lead 21-20 by the end of the first quarter thanks to two touchdowns from Levi Norwood, one on a 40-yard pass from Bryce Petty and another on a 51-yard punt return in the final seconds to take the lead for good.

Baylor racked up 675 yards of total offense, with Petty throwing for 335 yards and three touchdowns to go with two rushing TDs. The Bears rushed for 340 yards, with Shock Linwood (29 carries, 187 yards, one TD) and Devin Chafin (11 carries, 100 yards, two TDs) leading the charge.

Up next: Baylor faces maybe its stiffest challenge yet when it visits Oklahoma State (9-1, 6-1) on Saturday. The Bears won 41-38 last December to snap a six-game skid to the Cowboys.

Notable: Baylor remains the nation's leader in scoring offense, at 61.2 points per game, while it fell to seventh in scoring defense (17.4) due to the second-most points it has allowed this season.

Week 12 result: Florida State (10-0, 8-0 ACC) had another "over before it started" result, crushing Syracuse (5-5, 3-3) early en route to a 59-3 home win.

The Seminoles outgained the Orange 523-247, with Jameis Winston outgaining the visitors all by himself with his 277 yards on 19-of-21 passing. FSU led 59-0 and was about eight minutes short of its second shutout of the season. Instead, the 'Noles registered back-to-back wins by the same score.

Winston threw two touchdown passes, while James Wilder Jr. had two of the Seminoles' four rushing touchdowns. And they registered another defensive TD, getting a 31-yard fumble return for a score from Chris Casher in the third quarter.

Up next: Florida State, done with league play and locked into the ACC title game, finishes up with two nonconference games, first at home against Idaho (1-9). The schools have never met.

Notable: FSU improved to second in scoring offense (52.7 points per game) and third in scoring defense (11.1). Five of the Seminoles' 10 opponents have been held scoreless or to single digits.

    Average rating: 1.2

Week 12 result: Alabama (10-0, 7-0 SEC) muddled through the post-LSU hangover en route to a 20-7 win at Mississippi State (4-6, 1-5).

The Crimson Tide turned the ball over four times, with A.J. McCarron throwing two interceptions and RBs Kenyan Drake and T.J. Yeldon each losing a fumble.

McCarron also threw two TD passes, while Yeldon gained 160 yards on 24 carries, more than enough offense to down a Mississippi State team that was held to just 197 yards of total offense.

Up next: The Tide get a practice game of sorts before the Iron Bowl, hosting FCS foe Chattanooga (8-3) on Saturday. Alabama beat the Mocs 45-0 in 2009.

Notable: The 20 points were the fewest scored by Alabama since its infamous 9-6 overtime loss to LSU in 2011.
