Although Oakland might be a mere 4-14 on the playing surface over its last 18 games, the Raiders are on a 7-3 ATS run overall. Houston has lost eight of 10 to the books but has covered five of seven against the Raiders.

Point spread:
Texans opened as six-point favorites; the total was 42.5. (Line updates and matchup report)

Odds Shark computer prediction:
14.9-12.7 Raiders

Why the Raiders can cover the spread

The Raiders fell to the Giants last week, but their defense did show some improvement; they went from being lit up by the Eagles' Nick Foles and his seven touchdown strikes to limiting New York to 251 yards. Oakland's defense also scored a touchdown and set up a field goal with a fumble recovery against the Giants.

Why the Texans can cover the spread

Houston is on a horrible 2-7 skid heading into Week 11 of the season, but J.J. Watt is still getting the job done on defense. Watt forced and recovered a pair of fumbles against the Cardinals last week and could end up dominating Oakland's offense all by himself this week.

Smart Pick

Houston is the wise choice here, as it'll be hungry to snap its franchise-record seven straight losses. It catches an Oakland team that played in New Jersey last Sunday against the Giants, went home and is now back on the road having to travel to H-town. It's a great spot to see the Texans win big.

  • The total has gone UNDER in 12 of Oakland's last 16 games
  • Houston is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games
  • Houston is 5-2 ATS in its last seven games when playing Oakland
