Explosive talent can be worth a lot of money on Major League Baseball’s free-agent market, but one thing that can be worth just as much for starting pitchers is consistency.
And over the last few years, there are few starters who have defined consistency as well as Japanese right-hander Hiroki Kuroda.
Kuroda finds himself on the free-agent market fresh off a third straight 200-inning season. And in his six years in the big leagues, he has yet to post an ERA over 4.00. Signing him as a free agent means signing one of the most dependable pitchers out there.
