Tannehill is an enigma at quarterback, able to look completely lost for stretches of time, and then suddenly turn things on and perform at a high level. It's impossible to know what to expect from week-to-week from the second-year passer, but things have gotten brighter with the emergence of Rishard Matthews as a target.
The big problem with Tannehill is that he doesn't seem able to make "all the throws"; he seems a lot more comfortable throwing in the middle of the field than finding his receivers out wide, and it has the effect of shrinking the Miami offense. Facing a San Diego offense that's capable of putting up points this week and a defense that's capable of giving them up, he's perhaps a decent QB2, but teams starting him as a QB1 are in trouble.
