Da'Shawn Hand, the most coveted defensive prospect in the 2014 recruiting class, is ready to make a decision. The Woodbridge High School (Va.) star is expected to announce his commitment Thursday at noon EST on the NBC Sports Network, according to College Football Talk writer Kevin McGuire.
Michigan, Florida and Alabama are believed to be his top choices, while USC and LSU should be considered long shots.
The 6'4", 254-pound defensive end is listed as the nation's top player at his position and the No. 4 overall prospect in the 247Sports composite rankings. He compiled 227 total tackles and 40 sacks during his first three high school seasons, according to 247Sports.
Where will Da'Shawn Hand play college football?
Hand has been busy on the recruiting trail, visiting several campuses along the way. He was at Florida this past weekend to watch the Gators play Vanderbilt.
Michigan and Alabama have each hosted him for official visits during the 2013 season. Now it appears his highly publicized recruitment process is approaching a conclusion.
Given the spotlight Hand has received, it's fitting that his commitment becomes official in front of a national audience. Expect residents in Tuscaloosa, Gainesville and Ann Arbor to pay particularly close attention when he steps up to the microphone.
