The Marshall Thundering Herd will honor the 75 people who lost their lives in a plane crash in 1970 with special helmets. The number "75" will be on the players' helmets.

Marshall tweeted out a picture of the helmets:

On Nov. 14, 1970, Marshall was flying home after a game against the East Carolina Pirates when the plane tragically crashed. Everyone on board was killed.

The Thundering Herd will travel to Oklahoma to take on Tulsa on Thursday, which will mark the 43rd anniversary of the tragic plane crash. The 2006 film We Are Marshall tells the story of the following season.

Hat tip to Tyler Moorehead of College Spun for the find.
