No. 23 Notre Dame is currently locked in a battle with Pitt at Heinz Field, and the Fighting Irish aren't doing themselves any favors right now. The Irish managed to force a key fumble from Panthers' QB Tom Savage, but the Notre Dame players stopped playing and let the ball lay on the ground. It was clear that Sheldon Day thought it was simply an incomplete pass, but the referees didn't blow the whistle dead, and the Pitt sideline wildly encouraged their team to pick up the ball as it was just sitting on the field. The Panthers eventually recovered.
