After scoring a big touchdown in the third quarter, Carlson had five receptions for 79 yards and that big score. He finished the game with 98 yards and seven receptions. That was good enough for 15 points in ESPN's standard scoring leagues, and it was his only game with more than 23 yards this season.
Before this game, he had just 11 receptions for 61 yards. He was replacing Kyle Rudolph in this one, and he may have to do this more often, as Rudolph has a fractured foot and could miss the next month, according to Ben Goessling of ESPN.com.
Although Carlson hasn't been a very productive player in 2013, this game showed that he is capable of stepping up in Rudolph's absence. He may not be a top-tier tight end, but he has the chance to put up some decent points over the next few games while he's in the starting lineup.
