There are no true starting aces on Major League Baseball’s free-agent market this winter. It seems the best of the best are too busy signing extensions to worry about free agency.
But there is Matt Garza. The 29-year-old right-hander and former Minnesota Twin, Tampa Bay Ray, Chicago Cub and Texas Ranger is an FA for the first time in his career. And in a market that has its share of talented second-tier aces, he stands out as one of the more intriguing ones.
