If a good-hitting catcher is a rare commodity, a good power-hitting catcher is an even rarer commodity.
Brian McCann likes the sound of that. The nine-year veteran of the Atlanta Braves is a free agent for the first time in his career this winter, and his status as a power-hitting catcher should lead to a very nice payday.
MLB Lead Writer Zachary D. Rymer is here to dish on McCann’s free agency, touching on everything from his projected salary to why teams will be willing to pay him to why teams might be wary of paying him.
To that last end, there are quite a few red flags attached to McCann’s name. If they don’t hurt him in negotiations, they could certainly end up burning whichever team signs him.
