American League News

Akinori Iwamura will miss the rest of the season with a torn ACL in his left knee.

Brian Roberts had to leave the game in the eighth inning Monday night with a left shin contusion.

Joakim Soria, bothered by a shoulder injury, will begin a rehab assignment in Arizona on Wednesday.

Nelson Cruz, "The Wonder Kid", hit his 12th homer of the season and is batting .294 with 32 RBI and eight steals.

Phil Hughes threw eight shutout innings against the Rangers Monday and improved to 3-2 on the season.

Alex Rodriguez went 5-for-5 with four RBI.

Miguel Cabrera went 4-for-6 with three RBI.

Ryan Garko went 3-for-5 with two homers and five RBI...Carlos Quentin left Monday's game with a foot injury.

Brad Penny improved to 5-1 on the season after holding the Twins to three runs on six hits.

Alexei Ramirez showed signs of breaking out of his year long slump Monday night after collecting four hits, three RBI, three runs scored and a stolen base.

David Price lasted only three and a third innings Monday as he walked five and allowed two runs.

Ervin Santana lasted only one inning Monday night against the White Sox. Santana allowed seven singles, a double, a grand slam and a walk.

Fausto Carmona allowed five runs over one and a third innings Monday night.

National League News

The best injury of the day goes to Rafael Furcal, who is out with tightness in his buttocks.
