This year in the Champions League final, Barcelona and Manchester United will meet in the Stadio Olimpico on May 27 to decide who will be this years European champions.

However, controversy has rised about the final because of the reputation of AS Roma's supporters when they play against major English teams as hard-core ‘ultra’ fans go around the city with roving gangs armed with flick-knives committing stabbings away from the stadium.

This caused UEFA to declare last year that they would move the final elsewhere before Roma’s quarter-final against Manchester United last season if there was a repeat of the violence that hit United’s previous two visits.

There was no violence in that round, but instead there were stabbings again when Arsenal and Roma met in Rome during the round of 16, and the stabbings started again, which has angered many English fans and the London-based newspaper The Times started a campaign to have the final moved, branding Rome "Stab City."

However, according to Rome Mayor Gianni Alemanno, he said that the Champions League final has been in Rome before (In 1977, 1984 and 1996), and claimed that there are more stabbings in London than in Rome.

Because of all of this, there will be lots of added security for the final in and around the stadium, which will police this potential problem.

Also, there will be a banning of alcohol around the stadium during the game, and no glass bottles will be allowed inside or around the Stadio Olimpico the night before the game and the night of the game.

Finally, with all of the added security for the final, the final should definitely be held in Rome, and the final should be a very entertaining one between Barcelona and Manchester United, and nothing should be in the way of this great matchup.
