Smith enters the Jets' Week 10 bye having completed 158-of-272 passes (58.1 percent) for 1,997 yards, eight touchdowns and 13 interceptions. However, he's added some value with his legs, rushing for 172 yards and three TDs.
The Jets draw a generous Buffalo pass defense after the bye, and Smith will get back Kellen Winslow and perhaps Santonio Holmes for that week's game, a situation that gives him some waiver-wire appeal for those looking toward Week 11. He's failed to clear 200 yards passing in either of his last two games and has just one touchdown pass in his last four weeks, so the reinforcements will be welcome.
