Everton-Chelsea: Another Scrappy, Dour Win by Chelsea
First and foremost - Three points is three points.
We dominated the first half in terms of posession, had one chance on goal, which thankfully went in. Second half we went into the familiar 'lets hold onto this slender lead' mode, but thankfully this time we held out, which probably had a lot to do with Everton not creating anything, they really do miss Arteta and Cahill.
Again tonight, Essien scored a brilliant goal I must say but there was little luck involved in how it came to him. And again tonight, some of our foreign players looked completely disinterested in the task at hand. I think Howard made one save all game, a long range effort from Obi Mikel. Remember the old adage 'all foreplay no penetration', for this the players need to take a long look at their performances over the entire season. Far too casual and sloppy by consistently giving the ball away, whilst being unable to cross a ball. God knows how many chances we would have created over the course of the season if we resolved these basic issues. You could probably understand this sloppiness in the first couple of games of the season, but near the end!
Anelka has scored 2 goals in 18 games. If he can score at Bolten, but cant score in the 'so-called' brilliant attacking style of Grant, that says something, doesnt it?
Just makes you wonder what they actually practice on the training ground.
As I said three points is three points, especially at this stage where everything counts, so hopefully lady luck will shine down on us where Blackburn, West Ham and Wigan all manage to take points off United, of course not forgetting us winning as well.
All i can say at this stage is, I truly hope we improve next season. Although is not over yet and come Tuesday, we'll hopefully have Lampard, Ballack and Drogba back in the team.
Lets give Liverpool a stuffing....
