ESPN’s John Clayton quickly confirmed the foot injury and noted that Rudolph suffered it after hauling in a 31-yard touchdown pass from Christian Ponder in the third quarter.

At 6’6”, 258 pounds, Rudolph is one of Minnesota’s best red-zone weapons. Prior to exiting, the third-year man out of Notre Dame had caught two passes for 35 yards and a score.
That brings his total to 30 catches for 313 yards and three touchdowns on the year, respectable numbers considering the revolving door of quarterbacks in the Twin Cities.
Regardless of who is under center, the Vikings will miss having Rudolph to target when the chains need to be moved or the team is close to the end zone.
Prior to the current contest, the 23-year-old had caught 107 passes for 1,020 yards and 14 touchdowns for his career.
Fantasy owners that have been gambling on Rudolph should target John Carlson as a potential replacement, as the veteran is listed on the team’s depth chart as the No. 2 tight end.
Carlson has just seven catches and 38 yards through seven games this year, but should take on a bigger role if Rudolph is forced to miss a significant amount of time.
